In September 2020, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) initiated the rollout of the Director of Public Health (DsPH)-Led Testing programme, which merged into Community Testing, and needed to share many documents across every local authority effectively and efficiently.
As part of their Covid-19 response, the DsPH Customer Experience team (at DHSC), led by Priya Rathod, required a quick solution to make the test and trace decentralised model more efficient and provide a way of sharing sensitive information to external users including: health directors, analysts, operation managers and other specialists in public health, securely.
The goal was for local authorities across the United Kingdom to have one place to access the documents they needed, which were up-to-date, quickly found and had certified high levels of security, making Kahootz the ideal solution.
Robert Nagy, a Lead interaction Designer within Priya’s team remarked “The speed at which you can deploy Kahootz is one of the best things for people like myself who are used to working within turnkey environments. Typically, other work I design needs to go through a long process of development and coding through specialist tools, but within a week of using Kahootz, the team were up and running.”
As a large organisation, the multiple toolkits available on the Kahootz platform and its intuitive usability, has allowed DHSC to adapt its use far beyond its initial need to share information without barriers.
For example, DHSC used the Kahootz survey tool to collate feedback on the users’ experiences navigating new online workspaces and accessing relevant content.
Robert added: “I have used other online survey tools before and I can say that this one is straightforward and quick to create, and hugely beneficial having it readily available within the same platform. I also like the fact that you could schedule it when to start and finish, along with the available reporting.”
A celebrated success organisation-wide, Robert said, “when a user can adapt to using a piece of software with no questions, you know that Kahootz was the right tool for us.”
“The Covid-19 Testing Toolkit community has around 2,000 active users navigating Kahootz successfully and securely, with tens of thousands of document downloads. It has solved many of DHSC’s challenges and I would probably say that Kahootz is one of the most popular tools used within Test and Trace!”
