Rationale

This unit integrates aspects across the Key Learning Areas of Society and Environment, Media Studies and Mathematics.

It involves students showing an incident from 3 different angles/perspectives. The same incident can look very different depending on which angle you are viewing from. It highlights the importance of perspective and the ability to demonstrate this in a 3D environment.

The teacher saw a similar project being run by another teachers that was outlined in the Teacher Message Forums.

Student Tasks

The class was provided with an activity outline by the teacher that required them to produce the following by the end of the 3 weeks:

Create a Scene that displays who arrives first at the scene of an accident. (e.g. the police car, helicopter or the insect).
Add the appropriate World and Object keypoint animations.
Determine which 3 separate views you will display of the Scene.
Duplicate the Scene twice so you can change the viewing angle for the other two scenes.

Involvement for Xpression Participant

Can you determine who arrives first to the Scene of the accident?
Use the Movement tools to explore each Scene and see why different perspectives appear to give a different outcome.
Experiment with changing the World keypoint animation to see how else the view can be modified.

Learning Outcomes for Student Creator

Display understanding of perspective and spatial relationships.
Ability to change perspective through use of World keypoints.
Be able to calculate and synchronise multiple events.
Allows the student to demonstrate their ability to compare and contrast spatial relationships.

Collaborative Potential

Students can add more 'characters' to the Scene with additional perspectives.
Students could experiment with different speeds for each of the events.
Cryptic puzzles could be created that are based on varying perspectives and shared with other classes.
