How did they do that? - Tip Sheets
Resources > How did they do that? - Tip Sheets

The new K3 characters were created by freelance 3D modelers / animators. They built the models in a variety of different 3D packages, including Lightwave and 3D Studio Max.

For each model, the Kahootz team provided each freelancer with a brief that listed what (if any) animations the model should have, which parts of the model should be ‘swatchable’ and the maximum amount of polygons to be used to make it. The Kahootz team also provided the freelancers with reference pictures of what the model should look like. Sometimes video clips were sent too, for the freelancers to use for animation references.

The freelancers then sent through a basic version of the model for the team to provide feedback on. Once these were made, the freelancers finished the models off and animated them, if animation was required. Sometimes the animation was perfect the first time, sometimes it required a bit of tweaking to get it exactly right (the Kahootz team is pretty fussy).
